Thursday September 4th - Travel Day to Zulu Nyala

Thursday was a travel day, Cape Town to Johannesburg to Richards Bay.  The planes and airports are getting a lot smaller...

Once we arrived in Richards Bay we had a two hour drive to Zulu Nyala.  We had a great driver from Richards Bay to the safari lodge, his name was Paul and he was a complete hoot!  His eyes lit up when he started talking about the animals, he clearly loves his job!

It is an interesting place, we haven’t been on a game drive yet but we have seen Impalas, Zebras and Giraffes.  It is VERY different here versus the time we spent in Kenya and Tanzania.  Zulu Nyala is a private animal reserve and it is completely fenced in, seems a little strange to have a fence to keep some animals in and others out.  Seems like a Disney version of an African Safari... (ok a Disney safari on steroids)

Everyone staying at Zulu Nyala got their safari trip through winning a charity auction, one thing we all have in common is that we care deeply about some non-profit organization, enough that we all "won" the auctions.

We are staying in a tent camp for the next three nights and it is very cool, the animals are wondering around the tents and we can hear a million crickets, no need for white noise machines here it is built in!

Friday we will begin our game drives!

Sorry it has been a few days since we posted... wifi was not working in the tents, we'll add the posts today and get everyone caught up.  :)  Wifi on safari, go figure!
