In the late morning we took an excursion to the Cheetah Rehabilitation Center, this is where cats from the private reserves end up if they are hurt, they are rehabilitated and released at one of the private reserves. They also have some cats that have been raised by humans and therefore can never be released back into the wild, so they will spend the rest of their lives here. We were able to go into the enclosure with two Cheetahs and had an opportunity to pet this handsome cat. WOW, what an experience! As we pet him he started purring and what a purr it was! These cats were definitely not tame, but were use to human interactions. We were given specific rules and regulations before we went into their enclosure.
Our afternoon/evening game drive was a bit quiet, mostly saw birds. The lighting was perfect to get reflections off the watering holes.
We decided to cut our afternoon/evening drive short and go back to the lodge for dinner, then go out again for a night drive. We are trying hard to find a leopard and the hippos out of water and night drives offer a unique opportunity. All wrapped up in blankets again we were off... no luck! We are going to keep trying.
This is our last night in the tents, tomorrow we move over to the game lodge.
So far no mosquitoes! We are sure this will change when we arrive in Botswana.
Fun Facts:
- Giraffes sleep with their heads up, if they put their head down their heart pumps too much blood to their brain and they will die

So envious of your petting the cheetah! What an experience!
